YOUNG ADULT BOOKS
“You can learn a lot about a person from their laundry. Spend as much time at the Washin’ Where? as I do, and you’ll figure everybody out.”
Delilah is a teen science whiz whose tough home life is only eased by her escapes to the laundromat to study for a college scholarship exam that she hopes will change her life. At this oasis, she observes the quirky characters that frequent the place and formulates rules about people and relationships, concluding that her policy of noninvolvement is the safest route to avoid messy entanglements and achieve her goal. But when a cute prep school guy arrives, she’s tempted to open up by his friendly persistence and humor. But what could privileged Chris possibly understand about her poverty-ridden life? Delilah learns that Chris has much more in common with her than she could have imagined.
